On June 10th 10 Year 9 and 10 girls had the amazing opportunity to participate in Ecolinc’s Women in STEM excursion.
The program is designed to inspire and empower young women to explore the exciting possibilities of future careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The day began with an engaging keynote presentation from Dr Prue Francis, a conservationist who shared her passion for marine ecosystems (and in particular seaweed!).
Students then participated in a series of hands-on interactive workshops that challenged them to apply their skills and creativity to real-world problems such as coastal erosion and microplastic pollution.
A highlight of the program was the careers ‘speed dating’ session, where students rotated through small-group conversations with a variety of inspiring women in STEM industries. They were able to ask questions, gain practical advice and broaden their understanding of the many opportunities available in STEM.
Overall it was a fantastic day, with students’ curiosity, creativity and passion for STEM on full display.
