School Rowing Program

The Footscray High Rowing Program offers a high-quality, team-oriented experience for students in Years 7–12. We focus on excellence, confidence, fitness, and friendship through a structured and inclusive approach.

Located on the Maribyrnong River, we are proud to be one of the few government schools in Victoria with a comprehensive rowing program. Our close partnerships with the Footscray City Rowing Club and Lowther Hall provide our students with incredible access to shared facilities, mentoring, and opportunities to train alongside experienced rowers.

Our program is expanding rapidly, establishing itself as a major competitive force with over 25 students currently affiliated. This number continues to grow every single year as more students discover the unique benefits of the sport. To welcome new faces into our thriving community, we will be running a dedicated Learn 2 Row program in Term 3 which will be introduced around school at the start of that Term. This initiative offers an exciting, low-pressure opportunity for students to try out this niche sport, learn the fundamental techniques, and experience the thrill of gliding down the beautiful and deeply cultural waters of the Maribyrnong River.

Our Vision

The Footscray High Rowing Program builds a driven, dedicated, and supportive team culture. We expect both students and coaches to work hard on and off the water, representing the school with honour, integrity, and teamwork.

Our Approach

We aim to:

  • Foster a supportive and challenging environment
  • Balance fun with structure through guided training
  • Encourage goal setting and self-improvement
  • Build lifelong friendships and community connection

We believe in doing the basics well — rowing is simple at its core, and with knowledge and consistency, success follows.

Our Coaching Team

Our growth and competitive success are driven by a dedicated, expert coaching team who bring passion and commitment to every session. With a wealth of rowing knowledge and a genuine investment in each rower’s development, our coaches create an environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their potential.
