Tax-Deductible Donation Funds
Footscray High School maintains two special funds that allow our community to make meaningful contributions to the school while receiving a tax deduction. Donations to these funds are managed in accordance with the requirements of the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and the Department of Education Victoria.
Library Fund
Our Library Fund supports the purchase of new books, educational resources, and other library materials that directly enrich the learning experience of our students.

Building Fund
Our Building Fund supports capital improvements to the school’s facilities, helping us create and maintain high-quality learning environments for current and future students.

Receipts and Tax Records
Donors will receive an official receipt for all contributions. Please retain this receipt for your tax records. Donations should be declared in your personal income tax return in the financial year in which the payment was made.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I direct my donation to a specific project or student?
No. To maintain tax-deductible status, donations must be made as genuine gifts with no expectation of a personal benefit in return. Donations cannot be directed to benefit a specific individual.
Are raffle tickets or fundraising purchases tax deductible?
No. Only direct donations to the Library or Building Fund qualify as tax-deductible gifts. Purchases at school fairs, raffle tickets, and similar fundraising activities are not tax deductible.
Can businesses or companies donate?
Yes. Companies and businesses can also make donations to these funds and may be eligible to claim a tax deduction. We recommend consulting your accountant for advice specific to your circumstances.
Who oversees these funds?
Both funds are operated under the governance of Footscray High School’s School Council and are subject to the financial reporting requirements of the Victorian Department of Education.
