Congratulations to the five Year 9 Students representing FHS at the Don Valley Campus of the School for Student Leadership who have developed and presented the master plan for their Community Learning Project.
The students have developed “The Roots Project”. This project is to plant 782 trees in the Footscray community in recognition of the number of lives lost to suicide in Victoria in 2025. By planting the trees, the students are wanting to raise awareness for mental health and the impact of climate change.
On Friday the 19th of June SSL liaison teacher Josh Morris-Drohan and Pilgrim Campus Principal Jen Bashford travelled to the Don Valley Campus to see students present their CLP to community members. Students presented confidently and with a clear vision for the project and what it will become.
Over the course of the eight week program students have challenged themselves with activities such as white water canoeing, hikes at sunrise and living with 40 other Year 9 students from around the state.
We are excited to welcome these young leaders back into our Footscray High School community to share their experiences and what they have learned with their peers and to bring their project to fruition.
