We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nations as Traditional Custodians of the land on which we teach and learn and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are part of our great Footscray High School community.
At Footscray High School we acknowledge the impacts of colonisation on our First Nations people, to this day, particularly within the realms of education, health and justice and we recognise the strength, resilience and pride in the longest living culture in the world as it is reclaimed, celebrated and generously shared with non-Aboriginal people. We commit to open our minds and hearts to our history throughout our life-long learning journey.
Our school is an inclusive community built upon values of unity, respect, creativity and endeavour. We believe in working hard and working together in a positive environment, where each individual is engaged and empowered to discover purpose and develop skills for life.
At Footscray High School we are committed to every student having access to a world class education. Inspiring young people to develop the ‘essential skills’ required for their future pathways in an inclusive and positive learning environment is our priority.
I am privileged and honoured to be the inaugural Principal of Footscray High School. We are an integral part of the Footscray Learning Precinct that will deliver new and innovative world class educational opportunities and pathways at all stages of education.
The Footscray High School will comprise two Junior 7-9 campuses and a Senior 10-12 campus (from 2022). In 2020, Year 7 students will be located at the Barkly Campus and Years 8-12 at the Kinnear Campus.
Footscray High School is part of The Footscray Learning Precinct. The Precinct will champion excellence in learning and teaching in Melbourne's inner west at all stages of education. The precinct will build on the richness and diversity of the community and will provide opportunities for learning in a whole new way.
The new school is a result of a merger of Footscray City College and Gilmore College for Girls, both with rich histories and cultures. The merger brings together the best of both schools and is positioned to be a school of choice and excellence.
Welcoming our Foundation Year 7 students in 2020, the Barkly Campus will be the new home for the Footscray High School 7-9 Junior School.
Formerly Footscray City College, our Kinnear Campus will evolve into the new Footscray High School Senior 10-12 Campus.
Welcoming Foundation students for Years 7 & 8 in 2021, the new purpose built Pilgrim Campus will be an additional home for Footscray High School 7-9 students.
At Footscray learning extends way beyond the classroom. We are proud of our rich and diverse co-curricular culture. Footscray has extensive programs that inspire and challenge a myriad of passions and interests.
