Year 8

Footscray High School provides separate Learning Centres for our 8 students.

Contemporary Learning Environments

In 2021 the Year 8 program will run from both the Barkly Campus as well as the new Pilgrim campus in Seddon.

The separate Centres at each campus have been purposely designed, and provide a bright, contemporary learning environment for our students.

Each of the Centres house the home group rooms for Year 8 and provide the Home Group class with a designated home base throughout the year. All of their classes are held in the students’ homegroup room, with the exception of those that require specialist facilities, such as Science, Music, or Art. There are also several specialist project spaces available that are customised for the STEAM curriculum and project based learning activities.

In Year 8, students continue the broad and comprehensive program begun in Year 7. All classrooms are serviced by high speed wireless internet, interactive projectors and are fitted with flexible furniture. Both our junior campuses will follow a parallel curriculum and the extracurricular opportunities are synonymous.

Throughout the year, there are numerous opportunities for students to interact with their peers across all three of our campuses such as sporting events, art shows, music and theatre performances.

The wide range of subjects studied in the Year 8 program is designed to equip all students with familiarity, experience and knowledge required for making informed decisions when they begin to make elective choices in Year 9
