This is a new multi-campus secondary college for the Footscray Learning Precinct, with a dedicated senior school campus for years 10 – 12 and two junior campuses for students in years 7 – 9. The school provides a structured academic program that encourages the development of individual talents and pathways. Curriculum strengths are in the sciences, arts and STEAM in a technology rich environment. There is a strong humanities program inclusive of commerce and business studies opportunities and outstanding music, theatrical and sports programs and many leadership opportunities.

International Student Program

Footscray High School has a well established International Student Program with participants from Germany, Japan, China, Vietnam, France, Italy, Columbia, Thailand and India.

We currently accept international student enrolments in year levels 7 to 11. We advise agents, families and students applying to enrol at Footscray High School to have at least level 3 English. As we have an English Language Program at FHS, we are able to provide classes to improve students’ English language.

The length of time a student should attend these classes is 20 weeks or 2 terms. Upon successful completion of this program the student then joins mainstream classes.

We have excellent programs of study in English, History and Maths and Science.

Our broad curriculum caters for the talents of all students – this includes Music, Dance, Outdoor Education, Hospitality and Technology Studies, and Art and Photography. We also offer bridging English in Year 11.

A variety of extra-curricular activities

A number of clubs and activities operate at lunchtimes or after school to cater for student’s special interests.
These include chess, photography, debating, art and fashion, animation and the book club.

There is also the opportunity for students to train for and participate in the great Victorian bike ride as well as other sports training and in-house competitions.

In addition to the above there are further extracurricular programs that you can choose to become involved in including camps, excursions, annual musical and theatrical activities, lunchtime clubs and activities as well as a homework club.

English Language Centre

Footscray High School English Language Centre students are taught by qualified and experienced teachers who provide supportive and nurturing learning environments, with an emphasis on building confidence and enhancing communication skills.

In addition the centre also offers a variety of cultural and social activities for students to participate in, including excursions to local attractions, sports events, and festivals. These activities provide opportunities for students to practice their English skills in real-life situations, meet new people, and learn about Australian culture.

At Footscray High School we have a strong focus on student welfare, with on-site counselors and support services available to assist students with personal and academic issues. The aim is to help students feel supported and connected during their studies and to ensure a positive and successful experience in Australia.

Overall, the Footscray High School English Language Centre provides a supportive and engaging learning environment for international students, helping them to improve their English language skills and adjust to life in Australia.

“I remember the first time I arrived in Melbourne three years ago. I was feeling lost and uncomfortable in the brand new environment for the new chapter of my study in VCE. Fortunately, I received tons of support and encouragement from the teachers and staff. Even more so, it makes me feel proud to be a member of the Footscray High School family. During the pandemic, I successfully overcame the multiple online-onsite learning crossovers. I got over the stress and other learning barriers. I kept reminding myself that nothing could stop me from pursuing my dream. Finally, I proved myself with my dream offer in a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne.”
