The Visual Arts 

The Visual Arts at Footscray High School offers Junior and Senior students a unique opportunity to develop their creativity through an extensive range of subjects including painting, drawing, digital and analogue photography, ceramic design, printmaking and sculpture. A range of VCE studies are also offered that include Art, Studio Arts and Visual Communication & Design. To celebrate student achievement, an annual art exhibition is held at a local gallery to showcase the high quality work that is produced.

Performing Arts

Footscray High School, will continue to offer performance opportunities for students to showcase the musician, actor, or dancer within them. Others may choose to show their talents behind the scenes as the sound and light technicians, prop designers or costume and make up artists. 

The annual school musical is always immensely successful event, engaging students from Year 7 to 12 in a theatrical extravaganza. A variety of other dance, drama and musical performances occur throughout the year at the school and external events.

Music

The Footscray High School music programs are extensive, offering a range of musical experiences to students, with an emphasis on developing performance skills to a level of excellence.has been designed for both students with a serious interest in music and those who want to pursue music as a recreational pastime.

We ensure there are many opportunities for your child to participate in group performance, whether it be string and jazz ensembles, rock bands, stage bands, the concert bands or choral groups.

All students in year 7 and 8 participate in our classroom music program. Additionally many elect to participate in our extensive instrumental music program. This program operates within the school day. Students are withdrawn from normal classes, on a rotation basis.

Instrumental Music

Students from Year 7 to 12 may elect to be part of the extensive instrumental music program. All instruments are taught from strings, percussion, brass, woodwind and voice. Students are allocated a weekly lesson with a specialist teacher, and are organised to be part of an ensemble. Current ensembles include the concert band, stage band, string quartet, percussion ensemble, rock bands and choirs.
